i-4 in volusia county where minutes ago, the lanes of i-4 near dirkson drive reopened following a deadly crash. it comes after two people were killed when a car slammed into a truck causing both vehicles to overturn. johnny fernandez joins us live near that scene now. johnny, hundreds of drivers had to do a big detour overnight. >> that's right, bridgett. i was at the scene of the crash an hour ago. troopers were trying to clean the mez up, trying to get the red mustang, tried to clear out of the eastbound lanes. drivers there were asked to take 17/92 as an alternative route off to i-4 after this mess. they had been at the 108 exit. both lanes of i-4 shut down after highway patrolle officer tells me a mustang rear ended a pickup truck.

ejected after it ended up flipping to the westbound lanes. we know one person is in critical condition in the hospital. the driver of the mustang is doing ok this morning. we know there was another crash near the exit, the 108 exit, the crash happened as a worker was trying to direct a driver to an alternative route to i-4. that happened after a driver hit the traffic worker's car. that traffic worker is in the hospital this morning. we'll pass that information to you on air and online. >> live on i-4. warmer temperatures around central florida compared to what we had over the weekend. >> i feel the difference definitely. >> we are watching for the next

no active crashes for right now. which does help very much. drive times checking out as they should be. everything is still in the green. we are doing fine. fine. >> new this morning, police are investigating the shooting inside a shoe store in orlando. officers say three men went into kicks empire on south tampa avenue last night. when one of the men tried to steal merchandise, that's when detectives grabbed a gun and got into a struggle with one of the suspects. injured. detectives are working on a description of these men who ran from the store. >> a murder investigation under way in marion county after a woman is found dead inside a home there. deputies tell news 6 a relative discovered the body of 57-year-old tamara inside a home on northwest u.s. 1, highway 225 a monday afternoon. investigators have not released how she died, only saying it is

detectives say they will be collecting evidence from the home and interviewing those closest to the victim in hopes of solving the mystery surrounding her death. >> new details surrounding the search for an escaped inmate who has been missing for four days. this morning, that man's mother is pleading for him to surrender to authorities. he was found working at a daytona beach shores hotel. this is part of a work release program. investigators say he cut off his gps monitoring system and never returned. detectives believe he is with his girlfriend and her three-year-old son. bullock's mom says she wants her son to do the right thing. >> no matter what you have done or what natasha has done. i love you, i want you to come back home and turn yourself in. >> investigators believe bullock

chevy cobalt with a florida tag which reads ule, if you see the car call police. >> investigators say a fire at a vacant building in volusia county that is being turned into a mosque was spengsly set but the state fire marshal's office says it was not a hate crime. the fire happened subbed at what used to be the ymca in daytona beach, just a few blocks from nova road. according to news journal firefighters say it appears someone set a stack of books on fire. investigators believe it was a group of homeless people using the area to try to stay warm. the fire cost about $5,000 in damage. >> we have new developments surrounding a homeless camp controversy going on in volusia county. there is a county administration building set to close because of safety concerns, all this comes as dozens of homeless people are camped out in front of the office refusing to leave. mark lehman is live in daytona beach. a shelter is now available there but not a lot of people are taking advantage of it. what is the latest?

the city had the salvation army come out, they offered 46 beds as part of a shelter. the county says that was a temporary fix. >> it is a risk for residents. i think that is absurd. >> some frustrated after reading this memo. it says the property appraiser's office is closed after an employee was attacked by a homeless man. >> i need a person to answer questions for me. >> the county is in the process of closing every office in the administration center. it comes after more than 100 people have been calling the walls home. officials saying it is their safe haven. >> it is an unfortunate situation. they know these won't get arrested and their service is provide there had. >> a temporary fix with the salvation army offering shelter

there were a few takers. now with the issue on where to put the homeless has reached a boiling point. the county says it is waiting for the city to make the next move. they say the current situation isn't good for anyone. >> it is sad to see on all levels from a humanistic standpoint how we are handling it as far as a community to the business side of it. how it looks, how we are handling it. >> as a more permanent solution, the county has offered to fund the property located next to the jail. the city now has until march 3 to decide if that will in fact be their solution and if so, they will be responsible for funding the operational costs for that building. meanwhile, here at the administration center, employees are in the process of relocating to different offices throughout the county and this building will effectively be closed by

>> new trouble for disney. according to the new york times, two former workers say they were illegally maysed by foreign workers. both were among the 250 workers laid off at walt disney 2015. federal lawsuits were filed against disney and two global consulting companies. the suit claim the company colewded to break the law to bring in immigrant workers knowing americans would be replaced. disney says the lawsuits are based on unsustainable legal theory. disney also says more than 100 workers of workers laid off have been rehired. >> the fight over recess will take center stage in tallahassee. lawmakers are expected to discuss a new bill to require school districts in the state to

as a result of the historic snowfall, many from trying to dig themselves out of their home. one of the hardest hit places, washington, d.c. >> federal offices and schools will remain closed as the capital tries to recover from the storm that dumped two feet of snow. the house of representatives cancelled votes for the whole week. airlines trying to recover and get back on track. yesterday more than 40 flights were cancelled or delayed in orlando alone. hundreds more expected to be affected today. airlines say it could be days before things get back to normal. >> a close call for a florida highway trooper caught on camera. we want to warn you first the video is very tough to watch. troopers just finished a traffic stop in west palm beach when an s.u.v. slammed into them. this happened on the turnpike. you can see the trooper was thrown to the front of his patrol car. he survived but suffered a shattered pelvis. highway property put out this

move over law where drivers are required to move over or slow down if they see an emergency vehicle on the side of the road. >> two people robbed a taxi cab drivers. here's a picture of the people they are searching for. investigators say the suspects asked for a ride. when the driver told them to go to the first taxi in line, they left and returned a few minutes later. they had a gun. if you have any information about the robbery or those involved, call the crime line at 1-800-423-tips. >> new video of a rescue off fort lauderdale. a large yacht began taking on water with 13 people on board. it is unclear why the 106 footer began sinking. after those passengers are rescued, the yacht went under. crews say they were only able to salvage a life raft and a personal water craft. the coast guard is still

bring a risk of severe weather. here's the big story, most of the severe weather will be to our south, mainly in south florida. that's where most of the energy will be. we'll see rain and a chance for a couple of strong wind gusts. i expect a couple of severe storms through the afternoon tomorrow. here's the way it shapes up. winds up to 50 miles an hour or greater. the tornado threat is very low but we can't rule it out. this is another front, another el nino system moving in. we'll have cool air behind it. right now, we are at 52 in ocala. 50 in orlando. 52 in new smyrna beach. much better than yesterday, much colder air in the 20's and 30's. still cool enough for a jacket but not the big winter coat. we'll warm nicely through today. >> notice as we take you hour by hour, today's coverage of rain only at 10%. that's mainly because we are pinpointing moisture moving in

we warm to 70 with the south wind by noon. 73 at 4:00. we'll be one degree above the average. the average is 72 in orlando. rain chances do increase as moisture does as well. we'll see a 30% coverage from 8:00 through 10:00 tonight. mild temperatures, even as late as 10:00, we are at 62 degrees. a change with more of ha warm air working in. you can see the winds coming in out of the south with the clouds and rain forecast. the green indicating one or two showers through 7:00 tonight. one or two lingering showers building in through 11:00 tonight. the real push for rain comes tomorrow, even early in the morning as early as 5:00, 6:00. there's 8:00 in the morning, heavier downpours and again, a chance for a couple of strong wind gusts for orlando south. our northern zones will see showers, the stronger storm activity will be for southern sections. the main risk for the big storms will be south of our area. orlando and kissimmee back over to western sides over into brevard county as well, as we
